Personal Injury Claims

Sustaining an injury caused during an accident is very distressing and often life changing in its results. If the incident was caused by someone else's negligence (they made a mistake) then it is possible to claim compensation from them, or, more usually, their insurers. Most drivers are insured, if the accident is happened on the road, as are most employers, should the incident have happened at work. Doctors, surgeons, councils, shops, and very often private dwellings all usually carry some form of insurance.

Making a claim is hardly ever "personal". The claim is handled by the insurers for the person/organisation who is to be held responsible.

What to do if you are hurt through someone else's negligence

If your injury was caused on the road, you should report it to your insurance company as soon as possible.

If the incident was at work, you MUST ensure that it is recorded in the accident book. Your employer has a legal responsibility to report it to the Health and Safety Executive.

However it happened, it is essential that you report it to your GP even if it seems minor. This ensures a record is available to show that you were injured and in what circumstances.
